Rotherham Borough Council Maintenance Case Study

The brief:
Rotherham Borough Council owns various buildings across the Borough including: Schools, housing blocks, markets, offices, care homes, libraries, car parks, museums and depots. With a wide variety of people using all of the buildings from the young to the elderly, it is imperative that the lifts are safe, reliable and in full working order.

There are 78 lifts within the various council buildings and two escalators under contract. Regular maintenance and servicing of the council lifts is required to ensure that the buildings are accessible at all times.  The council needs quick reactive solutions to any lift issues because they are in use 24/7. Rotherham Borough Council needs to be able to rely on quick call-outs within a specific timescale.

 

Considerations:
The majority of lifts are used in residential and office buildings that are typically low rise serving 2-3 floors. However, there are buildings with over 12 floors that have over 1000 users that are dependent on the lift for access.

There are lots of considerations across the Borough ranging from client requirements, lift usage and building type, the contract is extremely varied.
